Manchester United won the pre-season tournament last weekend but once again it was the fans and freedom of expression that came out as losers.

Protest flag that was removed

Anti-Glazer banners were again ordered to be removed and the word is that this came from the very top at Old Trafford, none other than Bryan Glazer. Problem is of course that this tournament involved three other teams and was being played in Amsterdam, not Manchester. Seems that having a good credit line gives you a lot of clout in the Netherlands these days.

Further confusion about where this tournament was being played came when Bryan's orders were put into effect by the Greater Manchester Police, backed up by the gun toting Dutch. Those same GMP "bobbies", whose only role should have been to keep a look out for anyone who shouldn't have been there, also took it upon themselves to evangelise the Glazer's position to United fans.

That's Greater Manchester Police, in Holland at the Greater Manchester taxpayers expense, telling Mancunians that they are wrong to be protesting against the Glazers hostile and unwanted takeover of our beloved football club. Must be some smooth talker, that Bryan Glazer.
